Silica Fire Bricks

Silica fire bricks are acidic refractory materials. Moreover, silicon brick has good resistance to acidic slag erosion and its load softening temperature is as high as 1650℃(3002℉)-1670℃(3038℉). Therefore, its volume is relatively stable under long-term use at high temperatures.

Things You Should Know About Silica Fire Bricks

High Load Softening Temperature
Strong Acid Resistant
Good Thermal Stability
Great Volume Stability
Low Thermal Conductivity

Do you know what is silica bricks? Silica bricks are made of quartz stone material with a SiO2 content of more than 93%. Furthermore, they are resistant to acid slag, corrosion and have high strength at high temperatures. In addition, sic brick will not deform after long-term use at high temperatures and its volume will expand slightly during the heating process. This expansion tightens the joints, ensuring good air tightness and structural strength of the masonry. Kerui silicon brick also has good fire resistance and mechanical strength. They can meet the needs of various engineering projects.

What are the Applications of Silica Fire Bricks in Kilns?

You can mainly use silica in brick in coke ovens, glass furnaces, acid steelmaking furnaces, gas generators and electric furnaces. Therefore, there are many types of silica bricks. We divide them into coke oven silica bricks, hot blast furnace silica bricks, electric furnace silica bricks, glass kiln silica bricks, etc. According to the complexity of the refractory brick process, we can divide it into standard bricks, general bricks and special bricks. In addition to silica bricks, siliceous refractory materials also include special silica brick, light weight silica brick, quartz glass and their products.

In addition, its specific application parts are mainly used in the vaults of kilns and other load-bearing parts. For example, the carbonization chamber of the coke oven, the partition wall of the combustion chamber, the regenerator and slag chamber of the steelmaking open-hearth furnace, soaking furnace, glass melting furnace and ceramic firing kiln. Alternatively, you can use them in high-temperature load-bearing areas of hot blast furnaces and acidic open-hearth furnace roofs. Production Method of Silica Fire Bricks

Kerui uses finely crushed silica as raw material to manufacture siliceous refractory bricks. In addition, we also add some waste silica firebrick or waste silica refractory brick powder, mineralizers and burnout additives. Then. We add water in a kneading machine according to a certain proportion to mix it into mud and then mechanically press it into shape. Finally, after the bricks are dried, the residual moisture is less than 0.5% before they can be installed in the kiln for sintering. In order to prevent severe volume expansion due to the polycrystalline transformation of SiO2, which may cause cracks in the product, a relatively slow temperature rise and fall rate is required during firing.

In addition, silica fire bricks are also referred to as silica bricks. It is an acidic refractory brick and is suitable for high-temperature kiln lining materials with acidic atmosphere or solution. In order to improve the overall performance of the masonry, we need to use siliceous heat stop refractory cement as joint material during masonry construction. We need to use silica firebrick and silica refractory cement together. Moreover, we need to reserve expansion joints during masonry and fill them fully with cement. This improves the overall quality of the masonry.
